AUGUST 15, 2019

After searching for a parking space and following the arrows to the meeting room, twenty-seven men signed the logbook to enjoy another week of friendship and good conversation.  Our regular meeting room was being used for the overflow crowd attending a seminar on self-awareness.  As 12:00 approached, Dan Melton rang the official bell and Jim Sharkey led the pledge of allegiance.

President Green welcomed everybody.  Dave DeMoss has returned from his fact-finding trip to Italy.  Good to see Jim Vandebogart in the crowd.

Bill called for the beverage drawing.  Joe Sanford had Hank Gruber mix up the chips.  Out came number 15.  A quick check of the logbook showed that President Green is the winner.

In news from the pension office, sorry to report that Karl Bergstrom #2402 passed away on August 5th.  Karl was 85 years old.  There will be no services.

Our treasurer reported two weeks ago the club brought in $1.00.  The checking account balance was up to $2413.00.  The club made $220.00 from the picnic white elephant raffle but the picnic expense was $1239.89.  The checking account balance is now $1393.11.

Celebrating their birthdays over the past two weeks include Al Lima who turns 80 years old, Jim Philbrick is 86 years old, Dick Sherwood turns 79, Jim Sharkey will be 76 years old, and Chuck Ziglar has his 70th.  Happy birthday men.

Time for the Severance ten-dollar drawing.  Joe asked Nick Bulpin to stir up the chips.  The winning number is four.  Another quick look at the logbook showed Ivan Feilberg’s name of line four.

The president called for jokes.  Greg Goldwyn stepped forward with cute stories about Southwest Airlines always pulling out on time and how to make a lady feel like a woman.  (Something about ironing a shirt.)  Joe Sanford had a true story about while in church the devil approached Bill Clinton.  The ex-president told the devil he had no fear of him because he was already married to his sister.

Once the laughter died down, time for the raffle.  Paul collected $130.00 to handout.  Dick Rovig reached into the plastic jug retrieving ticket stub #3743629.  And the winner is Eric Michl.  For the remaining dollars Dick pulled out ticket #3743571.  (Who was the winner?)

Congratulations to all the winners, see everybody next week…
