AUGUST 17, 2017

After the picnic two weeks ago and Ernie’s memorial last week, a regular R.A.P. meeting was held today.  Twenty-five men signed the log book to continue sharing friendship and good conversation.  As 12:00 Noon approached Vice President Merv Henderson rang the club’s bell and President Greg Pote led the pledge of allegiance.

For the Witkowski beverage drawing, Merv had Dave DeMoss pick the winning chip.  Using a slight of hand Dave pulled out number three belonging to Dave DeMoss.  (Tom is now back at CRISTA after spending several days at Northwest Hospital.)

In news from the pension office, two widows passed away last week.  Madeline Lipke widow of Fred Lipke #513 died at age 96.  And Mable Mahoney widow of Deputy Chief Richard Mahoney #273 passed away at age 98.  Chief Mahoney died in 1967.  Dan Oliver told us that the Russians hacked into TRUEbenefits computer system.   It is unknown how much data has been compromised.  Stayed tuned for further information.

Treasurer Guich reports after paying the picnic expenses the club has $1938.09 in the bank.  This coming week Jim Johnson will celebrate his 82nd birthday.  Happy birthday Jim.

It has been reported that George Shilipetar is retiring.  Congratulations to George and hopefully we will see him at R.A.P.

Greg called for the $5.00 give away.  This time around Eric Michl pulled out chip #14 belonging to Marc Olson.

Taking the place of our Prince of Mirth, Paul Barden started the laughter with stories about a union leader inspecting Las Vegas brothels and a burglar who stole the TV remote and changed channels every time he drove by the victim’s house.

For the day’s raffle Paul collected $115.00.  For the big bucks Paul asked Past President Nordlund to reach into the plastic jug.  Out came number 9614862.  After an appropriate amount of time had passed Nordlund realized that was his number.  For the remaining dollars Nordlund picked number 9614869 handing the cash to President Pote.

Congratulations to all the winners and see everybody next week…
