RAP | Retired & Active Police
AUGUST 30, 2018
Twenty-four R.A.P. Club members signed in today for another weekly meeting. All familiar faces in the crowd. At 12:00 Noon Acting Vice-President Dave DeMoss rang the bell followed by Jerry Jorve leading the pledge of allegiance. President Nordlund gaveled the meeting to order.
For the Witkowski beverage draw Dave asked Shaun O’Kinsella to mix-up the plastic chips. And the winning number is three belonging to Joe Sanford.
Joe reported that Jay Nicholson was seen at the Tuesday C.O.R.S.P.E. meeting. Good to know that Jay is up and around. Look forward to seeing him back at R.A.P.
No news from the pension office. Dennis Zimnisky’s memorial service will be held tomorrow at Washelli beginning at 11:00 am.
Our treasurer reported last week the club brought in $19.00. That money brings the checking account balance up to $2374.88.
During the week Paul Barden celebrated his 82nd birthday and Dave Ritter turned 75. Happy birthday men.
Time for the Severance ten-dollar drawing. Dave asked Joe Fewel to pick the winning number. The money goes to Chuck Zigler signing in on line 23.
To start the laughter, Paul Barden read an article from the Detroit Free Press reporting that the state police recovered a large cache of weapons and explosive materials hidden behind the local library. When nearby residents were asked for reactions they were surprised to learn there was a library.
The raffle today had $105.00 to hand out. Paul had Dick Sherwood reach into the plastic jug. Dick pulled out ticket stub #4728648 handing his fellow academy classmate the big dollars. The president then reached in and came out with ticket stub #4728496. The remaining dollars goes to Dick Rovig. Congratulations to all the winners.
See everybody next week…
