Retired Seattle Police Officers Association

RAP | Retired & Active Police

RAP meets every Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Nile Country Club, 205th & Interstate 5.

DECEMBER 28, 2017

On this last meeting of the year twenty-three men and women signed in to enjoy each other’s company and good conversation.  At 12:00 Noon Merv Henderson had the honor of ringing the club’s bell.  Eric Michl led the pledge of allegiance and in the absence of President Pote, Treasurer Nordlund had the honor of calling the meeting to order.

Good to see our Past President Hortin in attendance.  Health wise 2017 has not been a good year for Dave.  Last week Dave received the great news that his scans are clear.

To get things rolling, for the Witkowski beverage drawing Merv had Joe Sanford pick the winning plastic chip.  And today’s number is two belonging to John Guich.  (As mentioned last week Jerry and Judy Smith have funded the Witkowski drawing for the coming year.)

Sorry to report that Hal Fogus lost his wife Donna.  Donna passed away on December 23rd.  Her services are scheduled for January 11th at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett.  All are welcome to attend.

Treasurer Nordlund reported last week the club brought in $528.00.   Bringing our checking account balance to $2254.59.  The only birthday to report is Nick Bulpin’s.  Tomorrow Nick turns 76.  Happy birthday Nick.

Our Prince of Mirth was not with us today.  Eric Michl had a happiness story about a DUI driver telling Eric to be proud of his profession.  Eric told the driver he had fun going to work each day.  John Nordlund had the crowd roaring with laughter with a golf story sent in by Dan Cameron and another story about God telling a woman to give up her vices.

John Guich collected $115.00 to give away.  Nordlund reached into the plastic jug and pulled out ticket #6220367 purchased by Roy Skagen.  Roy in turn pulled out ticket #6220384 handing the remaining dollars to Cloyd Steiger.  (Displaying his generosity Roy donated half his winnings back to the treasury.)

Happy New Year everybody.  See you next week…
