Retired Seattle Police Officers Association

Historic Sign Project

Almost three years ago a memorial sign project was started. The idea was to place a memorial sign at the location that each police officer or fire fighter had been killed in the line of duty.

Each sign would be about the same size as a “No Parking” sign (12” X 18”) and would look like this:

As with all such projects, it has endured numerous evaluations and many changes with Seattle DOT finally approving the sign format. The project still needs political approval to go forward.
This means a proposal packet needs to be developed with some elements of the following: a full description of the program, letters of support from SPOG and Local 27 and SPD and SFD, perhaps support letters from families of the officers and firefighters that we have lost.
Currently, Mike Severance is working to produce this packet. For more information, he can be contacted by email.
You can help support the project.  Click here for more information.

We will be positing incident descriptions under the category of Line of Duty as they become available.  Click the link below for more information.
