JANUARY 16, 2020

With the snow and ice finally melting making the streets and highways safe to drive, twenty-five men and women signed the logbook for today’s meeting.  On schedule at 12:00 noon Cory Ness rang the official bell followed by John Nordlund leading the pledge of allegiance.

President Green welcomed all recognizing Mike Burke in attendance.

Bill called for the beverage drawing.  Joe Sanford asked Mike to stir up the chips.  And the winning number is three.  Checking the logbook showed Jerry Taylor the lucky winner.

In news from the pension office, sorry to report that Earl Thomas #2093 passed away on January 10th.  Earl was 80 years old.  He retired in January 1981 after serving 21 years with the department.  No services are scheduled.  And more sad news: late this evening word was received that Denny Jorve passed away earlier today at Northwest Hospital.  More information will be forthcoming.  May both Earl and Denny rest in everlasting peace.  Riley Brice reported that Jack Moore is now at Ida Culvert.

For the treasurer’s report, last week the club brought in one dollar.  Checking account now up to $883.00.  At this rate the club will not have enough money to pay for this year’s picnic.

Celebrating their birthdays this week are Jim Campbell and Chuck Pillon.  Jim must be one of our youngest members at age 56.  Chuck is now 79 years old.  Happy birthday men.

Now for the Severance ten-dollar drawing.  This time around Jim VandeBogart stirred up the chips.  And the winner is Paul Barden signing in on line seven.

Time for the laughter to begin.  Kathy Ness stepped forward with another story about that mischievous Little Johnny this time asking his dad about a dead chicken with it’s legs up in the air.  Jim Johnson, Jr. followed with the definition of erotic and kinky also involving a chicken.

For the raffle today Paul collected $120.00 to handout.  The treasurer reached into the plastic jug retrieving ticket stub #6936060 held by Joe Bouiffou.  Joe then reached into the jug coming out with ticket stub #6936055 handing the remaining dollars to Rudy Suttlovich.

Congratulations to all the winners.  See everybody next week…
