RAP | Retired & Active Police
JANUARY 23, 2020
For the meeting today a nice crowd of thirty-six men and women signed the official logbook. Right on schedule at 12:00 Noon Cory Ness rang the bell followed by President Green leading the pledge of allegiance.
With a crowd this large there had to be some attendees we haven’t seen for a while. Bill acknowledged Jack Fox, Verlin Judd, Dave & Jan Hortin, Jerry Jorve, and Mike Sanford. Welcome to everybody.
For the beverage drawing Joe Sanford asked Jerry to stir up the chips. Out came number 23. A quick look at the logbook showed Jan Hortin to be the lucky winner.
In news from the desk of Dan Oliver, as reported last week, Dennis Jorve #2134 passed away on January 16th. Denny was 86 years old. Denny retired in April 1986 after serving 25 years with the department. A funeral mass will be held on January 31st at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake, 8900 35th Ave NE. Bill asked for a moment of silence in memory of Denny. A sympathy card was passed around for all to sign and will be sent to Sharon.
The treasurer reported last week the club brought in five dollars. Checking account balance is $888.00.
No birthday’s this week to talk about. Everybody stayed the same age.
For the Severance ten-dollar drawing, Jan Hortin mixed up the chips pulling out number 30. Ted Rovig is the lucky winner.
Bill called for the jokes. Kathy Ness was the first to step forward with a cute story about a little three-year-old girl who had the ability to predict the demise of family members. Little did the girl’s father know about the mailman. Greg Goldwyn followed up by telling about his friend Jim’s doctor appointment for chronic masturbation.
Once the laughter died down, Paul announced he collected $165.00 to give away. Dean Quall reached into the plastic jug coming out with ticket stub #6936317 purchased by President Green. For the remaining dollars, Ted Gromley pulled out ticket stub #6936106 held by Riley Brice.
Congratulations to all the winners. See everybody next week.
