RAP | Retired & Active Police
JANUARY 4, 2018
For the first meeting of the new year there was an overflow crowd of men and women enjoying friendship and good conversation. Today Cloyd Steiger had the honor of ringing the club’s official bell. President Pote then led the crowd in reciting our country’s Pledge of Allegiance.
Good to see Verlin Judd in attendance along with Rudy Sutlovich and John Patrick. Also, Sheri Johns was with her mother Annette Schenck. Welcome to everybody.
For the Witkowski beverage draw, Patti Pote had Sheri pick the winning chip. Out came number 31 today belonging to Dick Rovig.
Annette says that she has talked to Jack Wallock. Jack is dealing with cancer. Annette says he has a positive attitude. Mike Severance reports that rumor has it that Dave Hortin might be seen on the links this year.
Treasurer Nordlund told the crowd last week the club brought in $64.00 bringing the checking account balance up to $2342.59. (Most of the cash was from Roy Skagen who donated half his raffle winnings back to the treasury.)
This week Tom Caldwell celebrates his 84th birthday. Happy birthday Tom.
In the absence of our Prince of Mirth we had several stand-ins. Paul Barden started the laughter with a story about two seniors planning their wedding wanting the local pharmacy on the bridal registry. Mike Severance told us about the problems of an 85-year-old man opening a sperm specimen bottle. President Pote finished up with a biblical story about God explaining to Adam what a woman is. Good job by all.
For the raffle today, Paul collected $130.00 to give away. Sheri Johns reached into the plastic jug and just like the November 30th meeting pulled out her mother’s number 6220557. Annette again tried to return the favor pulling out number 6220508. However, Jim Johnson held the winning ticket. Congratulations to all the winners.
Don’t forget the Retired Officers’ Meeting next Wednesday. Rich O’Neill will be the guest speaker…
