RAP | Retired & Active Police

RAP meets every Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Nile Country Club, 205th & Interstate 5.

MARCH 12, 2020

On the day after the monthly retired officers’ meeting and with the threat of the Wuhan virus in the air, twenty-four men and women returned to the Nile to enjoy another R.A.P. meeting.  At 12:00 Noon, Cory Ness sounded the bell, the pledge of allegiance was recited followed by past president-current treasurer John Nordlund gaveling the meeting to order.

To get things rolling with the beverage drawing, Joe Sanford asked Dick Rovig to stir up the chips.  Out came number two today belonging to Kathy Ness.

In news from the pension office, Al Gustin’s memorial service scheduled for March 21st has been cancelled until further notice.

The Chair reported last week the club brought in no dollars.  The checking account balance remains at $1031.00.  However, in a showing of generosity Cory & Kathy Ness have donated to the club $510.00 so that the weekly ten-dollar drawing can continue for another year.  Should be noted that Mike Severance was on stand-by with his checkbook at the ready.

This week Bob Little celebrates his 73rd birthday.  Happy birthday Bob.

Now for the final week of the Severance ten-dollar drawing, Kathy mixed up the chips and picked number 10 belonging to Judi Smith.

Time for the laughter to start.  Using the official R.A.P. joke book Kathy chose stories about a Panda bear in a bar picking up a prostitute and a guy in a bar with a pet monkey.  (Brings back memories of Howard and his stories.)

Paul collected an even one-hundred dollars to give away.  Judi Smith reached deep into the plastic jug coming out with ticket stub #6937307 purchased not by Joe Bouffiou but by John Nordlund.

Congratulations to all the winners.  Hopefully see everybody next week.
