MAY 18, 2017

Today thirty-five men signed their names to the log book.  As always at 12:00 Noon the club’s bell was heard throughout the building.  President Pote led the Pledge of Allegiance.   Greg welcomed back Jim Fisk and said hello to Dan Oliver.  John Larson introduced his guest, Joe Turner.  Together 63 years ago today John and Joe enlisted in the Marine Corps.

For the Witkowski beverage drawing Merv asked Dan to mix up the plastic chips.  And the winner is Mike Fann who signed in on line 21.

Under Sad News sorry to report that Roger Lutz #3249 passed away on May 15th at age 73.  Also, Cecie Doucet #4273 lost her battle against cancer.  Cecie passed away on May 17th at age 70.  Kind words were spoken by Jerry Smith and Mike Severance about Cecie.  Dick Sherwood paid tribute to Roger.  And finally, yesterday Mike Burke lost his son Adam.  Adam was 35 years old.  A sad day at R.A.P.

Treasurer Guich reported the club has $2557.08 in the bank.  No birthdays this week.

Riley Brice told us about trying to hire a police chief in Burlington.  A long search produced five candidates.  None were qualified.  The search goes on.

Dan Oliver said the pension board election will be held on June 8th.  State law requires the ballots be cast at police headquarters.

Greg said it was time to give away five-dollars.  Joe Bouffiou stirred up the chips and pulled out number 27 belonging to Dick Sherwood.

No jokes this week.

For the raffle, Paul collected $140.00 to hand-out.  For the big bucks, Joe Bouffiou reached into the plastic jug and pulled out ticket #6756353 held by Al Nelson.  For the remaining dollars, Al picked ticket number #6756394 purchased by Cloyd Steiger.  Congratulations to all the winners.

See everybody next week…
