OCTOBER 31, 2019

For our annual Halloween Day meeting, twenty-eight men and women signed in to enjoy spooky friendship and good conversation.  At 12:00 noon Cory Ness rang the bell followed by Mike Severance leading the pledge of allegiance.

President Green welcomed all.  Cory Ness introduced Larry and Patti Allen.  Larry #2787 was one of the department’s helicopter pilots.  He left the department several years ago to enjoy a long career flying 747’s for the Flying Tigers and Federal Express.

Bill called for the beverage drawing.  Kathy Ness asked Patti Allen to stir up the chips.  Out came number five belonging, of course, to Kathy Ness.

In news from the pension office, sorry to report that Dennis Ronning #3349 passed away on October 25th.  Dennis was 74 years old.  His memorial service will be held on December 1st beginning at 2:00 pm at the Northshore Christian Church, 5700 23rd Dr W, Everett.  Also, Jim and Eileen Yoshida lost their son Brian.  Brian passed away on October 6th.  Bill asked for a moment of silence in honor of Dennis and Brian.

The treasurer reported last week the club brought in no money.  Checking remains at $1423.00.

Celebrating his 73rd birthday this week is Mike Severance.  Happy birthday Mike.

Now for the Severance ten-dollar drawing.  Jim Johnson stirred up the chips and pulled out number 28.  A quick check of the logbook showed that Dick Sherwood was the last member to sign in.

Roy Skagen told the crowd about the recent re-union in Puyallup of judges for the Miss America National Beauty Pageant.  For several years he and Noreen helped judge of competition.  Looking at beautiful young women walking around in bikinis was just part of the job.

For today’s laughter, Kathy Ness and Paul Barden were in their best form.

Paul collected $130.00 to give away.  Dave Smoots reached into the plastic jug to pull out ticket stub #3886819 purchased by Cory Ness.  The remaining cash money went to Dave DeMoss holding ticket stub #3886685.  Congratulations to all the winners.

Don’t forget the RSPOA/RAP Christmas Lunch will be on Thursday, December 12th.
