OTC drug claims: On 1/16/17, OptumRX/UMR has corrected the “over the counter” or OTC drug claims issue to process as usual for all OTC drugs and supplements that have a National Drug Code (NDC) and/or were previously processed through Express Scripts/Premera

November 8, 2016. The Seattle Police Pension Board of Trustees has decided to change medical, vision and prescription plan Administrators, and terminate our contract with Premera Blue Cross of Washington, effective January 1, 2017. You are receiving this letter to notify you of this change in Administrators and that your new identification card through UMR, will be mailed to you in December 2016.

September 15, 2015. The RAP Picnic was held under sunny skies at the Range on August 6th, a week early. Again, this year’s Bocce Ball competition was stiff – well maybe only a wee bit stiff. John Nordlund officiated. After long and grueling preliminaries, “the Seattle way” was used to determine the winner – championship by committee. The victors were Team Annette Schenck/Celeste Bouffiou, Team Jan Brandes/Jules Werner, and Team Hutchinson, Dick and Georgia. There was a rumor going around that next year there may be an inclusive trophy for showing up.

The Pension Office has been getting numerous inquiries regarding late mail deliveries of the City checks. US Mail is very slow. Also, mail theft is on the rise. So the City is encouraging Direct Deposit of pension checks. There is the strong possibility that Direct Deposit will be mandatory sometime next year, so sign up now and avoid the rush.

ALERT: Pension Advance Companies are aggressively targeting Washington Government and Military Retirees – Washington State government and military retirees have been targeted by salespeople and advertising from pension advance companies offering immediate lump sum loans in exchange for future pension payments. 

Retirees who sign over their rights to their pensions will receive reduced pension payments for upwards of many years while paying back the money they borrowed.

This is a Trustee position of the Seattle Police Relief and Pension Fund (Seattle Police Pension Board/Seattle Police LEOFF I Disability Board), term runs from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2018.

If your medical or lab bill says “PATIENT RESPONSIBILITY” or ‘SERVICE NOT COVERED”, please do not send these bills to the Pension Office until you have done the following:
