Retired Seattle Police Officers Association

RAP | Retired & Active Police

RAP meets every Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Nile Country Club, 205th & Interstate 5.

For today’s meeting twenty-seven members and guests signed their names to the official log book.  Five minutes before the scheduled start time Vice President Green rang the club’s bell.  Following tradition, the crowd started to stand allowing Eric Michl to lead the pledge of allegiance.

President Nordlund welcomed everybody taking notice of the presence of Dan Cameron and Jim Johnson, Jr.  Dan and Dean Quall will be partners tomorrow in the golf association’s year-end tournament.

To get things rolling with the Witkowski beverage drawing, Bill asked Nick Bulpin to pick the winning number.  Today the winner is Dave DeMoss signing in on line seven.

Under Sad News, Neal Sorenson #1596 passed away on September 3rd at age 85.  Also, sorry to report that today John “Greyhound” Boren #2235 passed away.  John was 83 years old.

Our treasurer reported last week the club brought in $14.12.  Thanks to Jim Sharkey and an assist from Bill Green that money brings the checking account up to $2389.00.

During the week Past President Ron Chapman celebrated his 76th birthday along with Charlie Lindblom who turned 85.  Happy birthday men.

The Relief Association is looking for help getting the pavilion ready for next week’s banquet.  Work will begin Tuesday, September 11th at around 1:00 pm.  All help will be appreciated.

Dan Oliver and Eric Michl addressed the new guild’s contract.  The contract is still out for voting.  If approved by the membership and city council, because of the process involved don’t look for any money before the first of the year.

Time for the Severance ten-dollar drawing.  Bill asked Dick Rovig to mix up the chips.  And the number is six belonging to Nick Bulpin.

To start the laughter Kathy Ness stepped forward with a chuckle describing two cowboys in their quest for an eight second ride.

For the raffle today, John Guich collected $130.00.  Eric reached into the jug and came out with ticket stub #4728612 handing Ted Gromley the big money.  For the remaining cash Nick Bulpin chose #4728719 purchased by Joe Sanford.  Congratulations to all the winners.

See everybody Wednesday night at the retired officers’ banquet…
