PENSION OFFICE NEWS

  •  The April COLA of 3.36% was effective last month.  So, for those dual entitled pensioners that receive both a State and City check, remember that as the State Cola increases, your City check reduces in a like amount. But in the end, you get the same dollar value. The deck is just re-shuffled.
     
  • Notice that the Seattle Police Pension Board Nomination Period is open. Pursuant to RCW 41.26.010, written notice is hereby given via this announcement, that the nomination period is now open through Thursday, May 23, 2019, for one member-elected Trustee position on the Seattle Police Pension Board.

    This Trustee position runs from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022. Only LEOFF 1 and Pre-LEOFF retired or active duty sworn members of the Seattle Police Department are eligible for nomination and election to this position.

    Candidates must be willing and able to perform complex, confidential, and fiduciary duties including attending and participating in at least one business meeting per quarter, plus other tasks as the Board may require. No compensation is authorized for serving on the Board.

    Eligible candidates who wish to file for nomination may obtain a nomination form by contacting the Pension Office at (206) 386-1286, via fax (206 )386-9075, by email at daniel.oliver@seattle.gov, or at policepension@seattle.gov. Finally, a form can be picked up at the Pension Office – 700 5th Avenue, Suite 1862, Seattle 98124 during business hours during the nomination period – call first!

    All completed and properly endorsed (by not less than five members of the fund) must be physically filed (returned) to the Pension Office by 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019 in order to be valid.

    The actual election will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. in the lobby of Seattle Police Headquarters at 5th and Cherry.
     
  • Now is the time for the biannual (December to May) premium sharing reimbursement for those members that have active employer-provided healthcare coverage. You must request this reimbursement in writing with proof of payment. Any questions, call Jan at (206) 386-1286, Option #1.
